About

Every woman in this world has a story to tell. She lives with fears and insecurities, has memories to laugh and cry over, and hopes and dreams for the future. Her intellegence and sense of worth are challenged daily by magazines driving unrealistic expectations of body image, and a value system based on physical attractiveness; by political and social systems that suppress her freedom of speach and right to vote; by religious beliefs and laws that put her basic human rights as secondary to rules of outdated and contradictory doctrines; and by the men and fellow women around her who stay silent against these forces and the effect they are having on society and humanity. The Ubuntu Woman Project collects the stories of women and girls from around the world via blog and email, with a selection of these to be collated into a book for publication. 60% of profits from the sale of the book will be donated to organisations supporting womens rights and services, and the rest will be used to set up and maintain a website for the UWP so it can continue to be a forum for womens voices to be heard to create support and change all over the world. If you have a suggestion for a group or organisation that you would like to see funds go towards please feel free to share this with us!
